Basic Manners

(formerly known as Domestic Obedience)

We offer Basic Manners classes which are held in Cambridge.
We have 4 intakes each year, and each class runs for 6 weeks.  Basic Manners classes are $100 for the 6 weeks. Dogs are required to be registered and vaccinated.

Some of the things covered during the 6 weeks:

  • Relationship building between you and your dog
  • Sit
  • Down
  • Come/Recall
  • Loose lead walking
  • Stay
  • Wait
  • Meeting & Greeting
  • Basic manners
  • Socialising
  • Any questions you may have or issues you might be struggling with

Manners & Skills

This class follows on from the Basic Manners class and extends the skills learnt.
We have 4 intakes each year, and each class runs for 6 weeks.  Manners & Skills classes are $100 for the 6 weeks.

Some of the things covered during the 6 weeks:

  • Wait with a recall (wait until handler releases)
  • Nose target to hand (building up to two hands and speed of presentation/behaviour)
  • Go around a cone and/or a wing from a jump
  • Release commands
  • Short tunnel (straight)
  • Spins right, spins left.
  • Follow handler’s hand/arm (dog stays on the side handler indicates with their hand out)

Agility Basics

This class is the first class to begin introducing Agility skills.

We have 4 intakes a year, and each class runs for 9-10 weeks.  Agility basics classes are $100 for 6 weeks.

Some of the things covered during the course:

  • Continuation of exercises/games learnt in Manners and Tricks class
  • Flat work foundation agility
  • Introduction to equipment (with no jumping for young dogs)

All dogs must have attended a Basic Manners class before they can attend this class.

Agility Training

Agility classes are held on Tuesday nights. The different classes are listed below and we welcome new members who would like to try out agility to come along and give it a go.

Beginners

Open to dogs from 12 months with foundation agility skills.  “Manners” and “Basic agility” class attendance recommended and preferred.

Starters

For dogs over 18 months with adequate control off lead, able to complete small sequences (6-8 obstacles) off lead and under control, able to complete 6 weaves and all other starters obstacles to one level below competition height.

Novice

For dogs over 18 months with good control off lead, able to complete full length novice level course (15-18 obstacles) at full height including dog walk, a frame and 12 weaves.

Senior

Dogs competing at Intermediate level or higher at shows or at the committees discretion if a member has a clash due to teaching commitments of another class for the club.
